Hong Kong’s calendar is littered with colourful festival celebrating Chinese culture and Western traditions, as well as art, film and music. Here are some of the best events on the Hong Kong entertainment calendar:
1. Hong Kong art Festival
An extravaganza of music, drama and dance, featuring some of the world ’s top performers.
2. Hong Kong sevens
Rugby teams from all over the world come for three days of lightning fast , 15 minutes match.
3. Hong Kong international film festival
Film buffs from mainland China and around Asia come to pay homage to Asia ’s top film festival.
4. Art basel Hong Kong
Local and international galleries come to Hong Kong ’s premier art fair, which takes place at the Hong Kong Convention & exhibition Centre.

Hundreds of teams from the world over compete in Victoria Harbour
6. Bun Festival
This festival takes place in front of the Pak Tai Temple on the island of Cheung Chau every year in May. It is famous for its “bun towers”, Consisting of bamboo frames, often up to 20 metres high, covered with thousands of pink and white lotus paste buns. The festival came about after the discovery of human bones during construction work on the temple, this led the islanders to make offerings of steamed buns to appease any spirits angered by the disturbance. The highlight of the festival is the procession in which children are dressed as gods and are carried above the crowd.
7. Mid-Autumn Festival
Mid-Autumn Festival is a harvest festival celebrated notably by the Chinese and Vietnamese people. The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with full moon at night, corresponding to late September to early October of the Gregorian calendar with a full moon at night.
