Lantau Peak
As the second-highest summit in Hong Kong, it’s little wonder that Lantau Peak is such a prized spot to catch the sunrise. The climb takes around two hours so spending the night at a hostel in Ngong Ping is a good idea. You can set off at about 4am to catch the 6am sunrise from its peak. Starting from the Lantau Peak Sunrise portal near Wisdom Path, follow the instructions on the signs.
The best time of year for catching a photo-worthy sunrise on Lantau Peak is during Hong Kong’s brief but relatively dry winter (December to February) when there are fewer clouds and only a thin haze.
